Coooomics.

If you read Magick Chicks, you might have seen that I’m gonna take over art duties over there. I had done it, over… three years ago? Man. I feel old.

Anyway, I’ve read some concerns about my workload, and if I’m able to do all that I do…

So what all am I doing right now?

★ Colors for IDW’s Littlest Pet Shop for at least 3 more issues (if they do well I might continue! So please support it if you like LPS!)

★ Letter at least a book a month for Seven Seas.

★ Write & draw two Fragile updates a week.

★ Ink two Eerie Cuties updates a week.

★ Ink two Sticky Dilly Buns updates a week.

★ Draw two Magick Chicks updates a week.

Should write & draw two Springiette updates a week. (Springiette is on the road to be wrapped up, and I guess that makes me nostalgic and not wanting to work on it, lol.)

I know it looks like a lot and scary, but it really isn’t. It’s all about following the schedule. Problems only occur is when my health takes a hit (stress does that to me) and when I’m traaaveling! For those who don’t know, my boyfriend lives p-r-e-t-t-y far away from where I am (5,000 odd miles), so when we get to visit each other, it’s a very complicated matter! And if something goes wrong for any reason (say, health issues), it gets pretty chaotic.

[I know I should post about the breaks beforehand (and post fillers, omg), but I had been taking so many breaks on my personal projects since October (when Alan got sick) that I was feeling a bit guilty about it… and despite what you normally see of me online, I like to keep certain things private. So, there’s that, just trying to balance it *shrugs*.]

There’s a reason I keep three different calendars for scheduling and daily tas—I’VE SAID TOO MUCH.

Nya nya nya nya!

Nya nya nya nya!

These covers are GORGEOUS! Probably good to know though, not much relationship with the content therein.

When do they come out and where can I buy them?

Issue #1 will be in comic shops on May 28, but the surest way to get one is to go to your local store and pre-order. They’ll also be available on Comixology.

These covers are for issue #2, out in June.

Yay, cover 2 is online! That one was real fun to color.

askmaridee:

I’m writing the Littlest Pet Shop comic book series from IDW! My artist is South American illustrator Nico Penaand backup stories are by my first editor on the Strawberry Shortcake series, Matt Anderson.

Although the TV series on the Hub has many of the same voice actors, musicians, animators and writers from My Little Pony, the premise and approach are very different. Each issue of the comic book series will be self-contained, at least for the initial 5 issues, and those stories will feature the same kind of quirky, slice-of-life circumstances dotted with fantasy elements that the television show has. The Biskits will be there too, but as the same kind of everyday antagonist any young girl would have to deal with, not as big baddies looking for world domination.

Hasbro has been very easy to work with and also very involved. This information is from their investor presentation: They’re revamping the LPS toyline next fall and it sounds like it will have more tie-ins with the show per consumer surveys indicating a high regard for the program. I’ve noticed myself that it’s not that easy to find the familiar faces of the pets from the TV show on the shelves; the product line came from more of a “collect them all” viewpoint but the series has given the pets recognizable faces young girls are seeking out. I believe the new comic series is intended as another support for this initiative.

That said, I’m taking my usual approach of writing an accessible series that both kids, parents and cartoon lovers of all ages will enjoy. The focus is on humor and character interaction; the first issue is an introductory adventure that has all of the characters working together while future issues may split into subplots. Here’s the first synopsis:

Littlest Pet Shop #1 (of 5)
Georgia Ball (w) • Nico Peña, Antonio Campo (a) • Peña (c)
The Littlest Pet Shop opens for business at IDW! Russell and Penny Ling have a puzzle for their friends to solve, and the race for clues will send them all over Downtown City. Only one team can claim the prize, but is there room for so many big personalities on one moped?
